This katana is signed Kaneyoshi (兼吉), a name associated with several swordsmiths of the Mino tradition, active from the early to late Muromachi period (14th–16th century). The Mino schools—especially the Seki group—were known for forging strong, practical blades with excellent cutting ability, widely favored during the Sengoku era.

The blade measures 61.4 cm and is notably slender, showing refined proportions typical of late-Muromachi craftsmanship. The workmanship aligns with the characteristics of Mino-den, featuring a tight jihada and a clean, functional hamon consistent with the period.

This sword is mounted in Imperial Japanese Naval Landing Forces koshirae, a rare type of WWII military mounting used by naval marines on land. The black leather scabbard adds both protection and field durability, and is a distinguishing feature of these specialized mounts.
