An unsigned Japanese katana measuring 63.7 cm in length, featuring a straight hamon and a beautifully refined fine nashiji-hada (pear-skin grain). The blade has a solid and heavy construction, giving it a powerful presence.
The sword is mounted in an excellent set of Type 3 Army fittings, introduced in the later stages of World War II. The handle has been lacquered to increase durability and resistance to moisture, a practical modification often seen on field-used military swords.
This piece represents a rare and authentic example of a late-war Japanese officer’s sword, combining traditional blade forging techniques with practical wartime adaptations.
