This is a compact tanto, with a length of 21cm, dating to the mid–late Muromachi period (15th–16th Century), forged in a practical, combat-oriented style.
The blade displays an asymmetrical hamon: one side features a suguha-based pattern with small, subdued gunome, while the opposite side shows hitatsura, with hardened areas extending broadly across the blade surface. Fine nie activity is visible along the edge.

The jihada is a tightly forged ko-itame, forming a refined nashiji-like texture, typical of Mino-influenced workmanship, giving the blade a calm yet dense surface appearance.

The blade is fitted with a silver-foiled copper habaki, indicating that it was carefully mounted and valued.

A well-balanced example of a Muromachi-era functional tanto.
