The blade is signed “Seki Kanemune” (関 兼宗) with a nagasa of 68.2 cm. Kanemune’s real name was Fukumoto Koichi, a Rikugun Jumei Tōshō (Army-appointed swordsmith) active during the Shōwa period.

In 1942, Kanemune was ranked in the provisional list of modern swordsmiths compiled by Kuriyama Hikozaburō, where he was evaluated as an upper-tier smith among “Ryōkō” (good smiths) and classified as Ryō-wazamono, Komusubi rank, reflecting a high reputation for cutting performance.

The blade features a clean suguha (straight) hamon, emphasizing clarity, control, and functional cutting performance.

Mounted in regulation Imperial Japanese Army Type 98 guntō fittings with a leather-covered scabbard, a configuration commonly associated with field service.
