This katana is signed Noguchi Yasumitsu (野口安光作) from the Edo period. The blade displays a bold and well-defined gunome hamon, with good activity and clarity preserved along the cutting edge.
The scabbard is finished in a vivid red lacquer, decorated with ao-gai raden (mother-of-pearl inlay). The scattered shell fragments embedded beneath the lacquer create a brilliant, iridescent shimmer that catches the light, giving the exterior both elegance and a sense of luxury.
