This is an unsigned Japanese katana with a blade length of 60.6 cm and a relatively deep curvature of 1.6 cm, exhibiting a well-balanced and practical uchigatana shape.
The blade features a gently undulating notare-midare hamon, with natural variations along the temper line that create a lively and organic appearance. The jihada is a visible itame pattern, showing a flowing structure typical of traditionally forged blades intended for practical use.
Based on the blade’s proportions, curvature, and overall workmanship, this sword can be reasonably attributed to the late Muromachi period (16th century), a time when functional and durable blades were produced in large numbers to meet the demands of the Sengoku era.
The style of the hamon and hada suggests influence from the Mino tradition, particularly the Seki school, which was known for producing reliable and effective weapons during this period.
The sword is mounted in Japanese Navy landing force fittings, with the saya fully covered in black leather, a feature commonly associated with combat use and field protection.
