A signed Japanese katana dating to the Muromachi period (1336–1573), bearing the signature “Bishū Osafune Norimitsu”. Produced within the famed Osafune tradition of Bizen Province, one of the most influential sword-making centers in Japanese history, this blade represents the practical and refined craftsmanship for which Bizen swords are highly regarded.
The blade measures 60.0 cm in length with a gentle sori of 0.7 cm, creating a compact and purposeful silhouette characteristic of many Muromachi-period fighting swords. The hamon is a graceful suguha, displaying a calm and disciplined straight temper line that emphasizes functionality and classical beauty.
The sword is mounted in Type 98 guntō koshirae with a leather-covered scabbard, typical of field-service mounts. The remounting of traditionally forged blades into military fittings was common during the wartime period, reflecting continued functional use.
