A Japanese blade bearing the single-character mei “Ichi” (一), measuring 60.1 cm in length with a sori of 1.8 cm. Dating to the Muromachi period, it features a suguha (straight) hamon.
The Ichimonji school was one of the most renowned traditions of Bizen Province, particularly celebrated during the Kamakura period for its flamboyant choji-midare hamon. The single-character inscription “Ichi” is closely associated with this tradition, although the mei alone is not sufficient to confirm attribution to the Ichimonji school.
The koshirae is a genuine Imperial Japanese Navy Kaigunto mounting, fitted with a black shark skin scabbard.
