Mumei, believed to date from approximately the Muromachi era (15th–16th century). The blade measures 59.4 cm with a relatively deep curvature of 1.8 cm, displaying a refined and well-balanced silhouette characteristic of practical Sengoku-era swords.
The blade features a calm and elegant suguha hamon, reflecting the understated functionality favored during the Muromachi period. Its shape gradually narrows toward the tip, creating a graceful taper that enhances the classical koto appearance. The overall sugata conveys the practical aesthetics of a weapon made for use rather than display.
The tang retains three mekugi-ana, indicating repeated remounting over centuries of preservation and use. Such details, together with the unsigned condition, are commonly encountered in authentic battlefield-era blades that survived through multiple generations.
The sword is mounted in an Imperial Japanese Navy officer Kaigunto mounts.
