A Japanese tachi measuring 66.3 cm in nagasa, with a sori of 1.6 cm. The blade features a suguha hamon and an attractive itame hada. The nakago has been shortened through suriage, and the original mei is partially obscured by corrosion. The surviving inscription begins with the character “備” (Bi), possibly indicating Bizen or Bishū province.
The blade features a suguha hamon and a clearly visible itame hada. Based on the remaining inscription and the blade’s characteristics, it may be attributed to the Bizen Osafune tradition of the Muromachi period.
The blade is mounted in original-style Type 98 Japanese Army mounts with a steel scabbard. The remounting of traditionally forged blades into military fittings was common during the wartime period, reflecting continued functional use.
