A katana signed Hōjōji Minamoto Sadahiro (法城寺源貞廣), measuring 58.8 cm in length. Sadahiro belonged to the Hōjōji school, which was active during the mid-Edo period and known for producing robust, practical blades.

The sword is mounted in a rare Meiji 19th Year Type Army Officer’s Gunto koshirae (kyū-guntō), distinguished by Western-influenced fittings and grip design. Of special note, the fittings feature the Oda mokko (織田木瓜) family crest, a mon historically associated with the Oda clan. Indicating a commissioned piece with direct samurai lineage connection carried into the modern military era.

A fine example that bridges the samurai tradition of the Hōjōji school with the modernization of Japan’s armed forces in the late 19th century.
