A Japanese sun-nobi tantō signed Nobutaka saku (信隆作), with a date inscription of Augest Man’en 1 (1860). The blade measures 31.4 cm in nagasa, with a sori of 0.4 cm.
The blade features a gently undulating suguha hamon with a clearly defined nioi, creating a crisp and lively temper line. The itame hada adds subtle texture to the steel, complementing the restrained yet elegant appearance of the hamon.
The dated inscription places this piece in the late Edo period, during a time of considerable political and social change in Japan.
