This piece measures 51.1 cm in blade length with a restrained 0.8 cm sori. The inscription on the nakago is heavily obscured by rust, but the remaining characters are believed to indicate Yokoyama Ueno Daijō Fujiwara Sukeyoshi (横山上野大掾藤原祐定).
Sukeyoshi was a swordsmith of the Yokoyama school of Bizen, a lineage that continued the traditional Bizen sword-making tradition into the Edo period. The blade features a restrained suguha hamon, giving it a simple and dignified appearance.
The koshirae is a genuine Imperial Japanese Navy Kaigunto mounting, fitted with a black lacquered scabbard.
