The blade displays a graceful chōji-midare hamon, executed primarily in nioi, with well-spaced clove-shaped tempering that reflects the elegant and refined aesthetics of the Bizen tradition. The balanced sugata and lively hamon combine to create a blade that is both visually striking and representative of one of Japan's most celebrated sword-making traditions.
Based on its overall workmanship, the blade is likely to date from the Momoyama to early Edo period (late 16th to early 17th century).
Accompanying the blade is an attractive Handachi koshirae, fitted with iron fittings decorated with gold inlay.
