This sword has a blade length of 54.2 cm and is mounted in Imperial Japanese Navy Kaigunto fittings. The blade is unsigned and features a straight hamon (suguha), giving it a restrained and classical appearance. Based on the blade’s proportions and overall workmanship, it is tentatively attributed to the Edo period. The nakago shows natural age consistent with an older traditionally made blade, which was later remounted in Imperial Japanese Navy fittings, a common practice among officers.
A notable feature is the rare leather-covered scabbard, an uncommon variation among Navy mountings.
