A signed katana bearing the mei 「日向大掾藤原重高」, attributed to the fourth-generation Shigetaka of the Echizen Shigetaka lineage. Measuring 63.2 cm in blade length with 1.4 cm of sori, the blade exhibits a fine ko-itame jihada and an irregularly undulating hamon.
The fourth-generation Shigetaka was an important swordsmith of the Echizen Shintō tradition and is known to have used the honorary title Hyūga Daijō, distinguishing his work from the earlier generations of the family who signed with Harima Daijō. His activity falls in the early Edo period, around the late 17th century, particularly the Tenna–Genroku era.
The sword is mounted in attractive Handachi Koshirae, with the metal fittings extensively decorated in gold inlay. The saya combines sharkskin covering on the forward section with glossy black lacquer toward the rear, creating a distinctive and elegant contrast.
