Muromachi Period katana, unsigned, believed to date from approximately the 15th–16th century. The blade features a graceful and highly traditional sugata characteristic of late Koto workmanship. Measuring 63.2 cm in length with a curvature of 1.6 cm, it presents an elegant taper toward the tip and a compact ko-kissaki, giving the sword a distinctly classical battlefield appearance.
The hamon is a restrained and refined suguha, emphasizing practicality and understated beauty in the manner often seen in provincial Muromachi-era works. The blade retains three mekugi-ana, suggesting repeated remounting and long historical use across generations — a feature frequently appreciated by collectors as evidence of authentic age and service.
It is mounted in a Type 98 Shin-Guntō koshirae, featuring a wooden scabbard finished in traditional Ishime-nuri (stone-texture lacquer), a durable and practical coating widely used on wartime mounts.
