This blade is signed “Uda Kunihisa (宇多国久)”, a swordsmith of the Uda school, active in Etchū Province (present-day Toyama Prefecture). The Uda tradition traces its roots to the Yamato Tegai lineage and is renowned for producing durable, battle-oriented swords favored by medieval warriors.

This sword is attributed to an early-to-mid Muromachi period generation of Uda Kunihisa (15th century), likely corresponding to the second or third generation of the lineage.

The blade exhibits a well-balanced curvature and a practical profile, with a jihada of itame mixed with masame, characteristic of Uda workmanship. The hamon is primarily suguha, subtly varied and restrained, emphasizing reliability and cutting performance over decorative complexity. These features are typical of Uda blades made for real combat use rather than ceremonial display.

The sword has a blade length of 52.6 cm and is mounted in Japanese Navy Gunto mounts, featuring a black lacquered scabbard. This later military koshirae reflects the long service life of the blade and its adaptation for use in the modern era.
